The brilliance and sparkle of a diamond is determined by its cut. A diamond that is well cut allows the most light to be reflected from each of its facets and dispersed through the top. A poor cut diamond is either cut too shallow, meaning the light will disperse through the bottom and look dull, or the diamond is cut too deep, and the light escapes through the sides.
We believe that the cut is one of the most important of the 4 C's. Even with the perfect color and clarity, a diamond will look dull if it is not cut properly. Diamonds carry the following cut grades per the G.I.A. (Gemological Institue of America): Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor. The A.G.S (American Gem Society) grades cut on a scale from 0-10. Zero being the best cut grade, and 10 being the worst.
