INSIDE TUDOR
BIRTH OF THE BRAND
The Tudor trademark was registered in February 1926 by the watch merchant and manufacturer Veuve de Philippe Hüther, in Geneva, on behalf of Hans Wilsdorf, the founder of Rolex. Afterwards, the house moved the brand to Wilsdorf in 1936. Hans Wilsdorf recognized that the organization needed to evolve and have a distinct character soon after World War II. His company, "Montres TUDOR S.A.", was established on March 6, 1946, and it specialized in male and female models. Along with distribution and after-sale assistance, Rolex would ensure the product's functional, aesthetic, and technical qualities.

hans wilsdorf’s intuition
“For some years now, I have been considering the idea of making a watch that our agents could sell at a more modest price than our Rolex watches, and yet one that would attain the standard of dependability for which Rolex is famous. I decided to form a separate company, with the object of making and marketing this new watch. It is called the TUDOR watch company.”
- H. Wilsdorf

With three major clubs and 115 selections in the English football team, 59 as captain, he left his mark: 6 England Championship titles, 2 Major League Soccer cups, one time Champion of Spain and one time UEFA Champion.
